Largest in India... 1035m seawater intake in Nemmeli project. Long tube! CHENNAI: India's largest seawater intake pipe is being constructed at 1,035 meters long in Nemmeli desalination project. Construction works of 150 million liters per day seawater desalination plant at East Beach Road, Nemmeli, 110 million liters desalination plant and 400 million desalination plant at Perur on behalf of Chennai Metropolitan Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater Board. Additional Chief Secretary Municipal Administration and Drinking Water Supply Department Shivdas Meena inspected the preliminary works of the desalination plant. The construction work of the sea water desalination plant with a capacity of 150 million liters per day at an estimated cost of Rs 1,516 crore 82 lakh is nearing completion. Installation of marine works, mechanical and electrical equipment is in full swing.

In this, the pipeline for the intake of seawater to the station and the pipeline for discharging the rejected salty water to the sea (Offshore works; Intake and Outfall Pipeline works), Seawater Intake Sump, the tank for removing oil and sludge through air pressure (Dissolved Air Flotation), filtered Sivdas Meena inspected the Clarified Water Tank and Clarified Water Pumping Station.

Also, Ultra Filter & Reverse Osmosis Process Building, Product Water Tank, Product Water Pumping Station, Administration Building, Sludge Thickening Sludge Thickener, Lamella Clarifier, Main Electrical Building, Geographical Information System (GIS Building), Ultra Filter & Reverse Osmosis Pump House, Lime Concentrate He also inspected construction works like station (Limestone Filters Building).

Specifically, in this project, as part of the marine works, 835 meters of 2250 mm diameter sea water intake pipe of 1,035 meters length and 835 meters of pipe laying in the sea has been completed. And the preparatory work for laying the sea water intake pipeline for the remaining 200 meters length is going on. The pipeline will be laid in the sea by the end of June.
