Suvita, Saksham... Apps with many features for candidates, differently abled voters! CHENNAI: On behalf of the Election Commission of India, apps named 'Suvita' and 'Saksham' have been developed for candidates, differently-abled voters. The Election Commission of India has provided necessary facilities to voters and candidates through various apps over the past few years.
In that sense, 'Suvita' is made for the app seekers. Candidates can file nomination, know about the status of nomination, get permission for campaigning, know about the status of permission application, get and register the permission application online. This app will save candidates time and get correct details.
Wheelchair Accessibility: Regarding the 'Saksham' app specially designed by the Election Commission for differently abled voters to register their details. If the young differently-abled voters who are going to vote for the first time register their voter ID card number, the details including name, address, cell phone number, state, district and constituency will be available. This will enable differently abled voters to get necessary facilities including wheelchairs on polling day.
Voice Assistance: This app has voice assistance for the visually impaired, voice assistance for the hearing impaired, and the ability to speak to text for the hearing impaired. In this app, the polling center, its location, facilities in that polling center, contact numbers of the polling officers are there. The app can also record problems faced by differently-abled persons during voting.
It has been announced that these two apps can be downloaded on Google Playstore and Apple iOS.
